Nelson and Washington and Lee University
As a member of the Washington College community for sixty years, A.L. Nelson held a unique perspective. Illustrated by the section of the October 3, 1910 Washington and Lee Trustee’s Papers, Nelson’s own “Personal Recollections of Washington College” as well as a letter to the Washington and Lee community from President George Washington Custis Lee regarding the opening to the new Reading Room in Newcomb Hall on campus.
